I think that will work. I am trying to get some info on threading the barrel for a f/s.......any advice there from tou Bob?

The SAR-2 I threaded 1/2-28 was .508".

the actual muzzle? i've seen them run from .504" to .510".

that's enough meat to thread 1/2" x whatever thread you choose.

1/2"-28 is the ar15/m16 thread specification.
