Alright, it's time to trade AK for AK here.  I have a Maadi that I paid about $400 for at a pawn shop and would like to trade it for one of those milled receiver, high cap, green furniture Arsenal 7.62x39s.

I have fired it pretty hard,  and there is some pretty heavy black fouling on the end of the gas piston.  Is there a way to get that shit off?  Steel wool?  Will this detract from the value of a trade in in the eyes of a crusty pawn shop gun counter worker?

Also, are the milled receiver AKs all that they are cracked up to be?  Would like to know from someone that actually has one, not just someone trying to sell me a gun.

Yes, I know keeping the Maadi and getting the Arsenal would be ideal, but I'm kinda strapped for cash in the $500 dollar range, so any perspective on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

A scotch brite pad works well for hitting the high spots on the gas piston.  Soak it in some Hoppes and then hit it with the scotch brite pad.
