After firing a hundred rounds through my AMD-65 build I noticed that the handguard was extremely hot. I replaced the lower handguard with a plastic US handguard with minor mods. I want to add the gas tube cover that matches the black plastic lower handguard because the gas tube looks thin compared to the lower handguard. I saw that K-Var sells the upper handguard but it doesn't include the gas tube. Do these snap onto the existing short AMD gas tube? I don't want to get one if it is not going to work. Thanks. |
It will not work. The AMD requires the "short" Hungarian gas tube. You will have to cut a reugular one down and then flare it with a socket to make it work. I have been playing with the idea of getting an ULTIMAK tbe as they have the short ones for the AMD and the rails are quite nice for optics and such.

Do any of you know if this gas tube will work? It's shorter than a regular tube but I don't know it's exact length. Campy?  K-VAR LINK |
