If you move the FSB up against the gas block, cut and thread the barrel, and permantly attach an ak-74 brake, will it be at least 16" long? Thanks.

I just mesured mine and it works.

I think I have 16.3"

You need to leave a small gap between the gas block and the sight base. The overall barrel length will be 16.25" or so. This is what we do to our WASR conversions.

Is there a reason for the gap other then overall length? I've seen a few snub-nosed AK's without the gap that were all reportedly <16"

Mine was done w/o the gap and it was an even 16".
