I dont have a hand gun or an AK.  Have $600 and I am caught between a Glock 21 or a VEPR K in 7.62.  Any suggestions.  hinking.gif

I was recently faced with the same situation except it was a glock 23.  I went with the glock.   But I have the "buy em both" attitude so i'll get the Vepr in a month or two anyway., but it will be in 5.45.

Buy a used Glock 17 or 19.  They are bombproof and you will have some $ left over for your Vepr.

I just bought a used Glock Model 19 with Trijicon Night Sights, 3 1/2 lb. factory trigger, 1-10rd. mag and 1ea 15rd law enforcement no ban mag w/ box and cleaning kit in at least 95% condition
for $390, used. I buy used Glocks' from a local dealer who is one of the largest Glock dealers in the nation. I have several models all used in great shape.

Buy a Glock and look for a deal on an AK.

I never mind buying used Glocks in great shape, you save $150-$200 and you can't wear out a Glock, they are the AK of Pistols.

IMHO

My glock 19 is the only firearm that I own that's more reliable than my SAR-1. Rock solid firearm.

As was said, a used Glock and a used WASR AK variant hicap.  Both for around $600-$650.

Getting both does sound nice.  Im just worried that I might not be able to get any AK in the near future if Kerry wins.

Get the AK now, a few hicap Glock mags in coming months, then save for the pistol.

Is there a place that sells folding stocks that fit the VEPR?

I like RS39's thinking.  It seems the safest route.

Get the Glock. You need a handgun.

The Glock is infinitely more useful for self-defense/home protection. G21 is my favorite of all the Glocks. The only drawback is that it is a little difficult to conceal, but still much better than an AK.

Everyone should have an AK too, but get the handgun FIRST.

Good advice.  check your local papers too.  I like to look through our local "bargain hunter" (free clissified-type publication)  every once in a while.  I've found a few great buys before.  Plus its a private sale, which are always the best IMO.

Sounds reasonable to me... As long as you're getting both.
