does anybody like them?

even if they fold,(post sunset) would you change them out for something different?

I like the wire type side folders. They lock positive and fold easily. If you get tired of it or your situation changes, its just a matter of minutes to have a standard buttstock back on.

one of the biggest drawbacks i can see with this stock is that it folds over the bolt keeping it from being fired while closed.

does anybody make one that folds to the left side of the receiver?

It does'nt interfere with firing while closed. It actually runs below the ejection port.

One big difference between the wire side folder and the underfolder is the impression it would make in the top of an adversarys head! The Romanian buttstock would leave a nice round buttonimpression while the East German would leave a T shaped impression surrounded by the imprint of the back of the receiver.
An underfolder,on the other hand, just leaves the imprint of the receiver.

Of the wire folders I like the Hungarian the best, the East German is ok, and the Romanian is quite strange to me.

KMFDM:

Never seen a Hungarian wire folder. Got pics?

Also, I was under the impression that the EG and Romy folders were virtually identical, save for the folding mechanism (lever vs button, respectively).

I personally prefer the Russian/Bulgarian triangle style folder, but those are neither cheap nor a drop-in proposition like the Romy...

I'm assuming he's referring to the folder from the Hungarian AMD 65,

My buddy has one of them on his Maadi. I sorta like it. At first, I thought they looked like crap, but now I might buy one.

I've seen three different models of the EG "wire folder", of course the differences are minor in the three.
