I apologize if to the moderators if this has already been covered somewhere else. Could the owners of these post your impressions and experiences (good or bad) with your SEAKs? Mine shipped Friday and is in transit via Fedex and I'd like to know what people think. Thank you Scotter260 |

Bought my first one slightly used from a board member and got to test-fire last weekend w/an Eotech Holosight. Typical AK reliability no matter what mag I used, typical 5.45 low-recoil & flat trajectory, UNtypical AK trigger pull (thx to the RSA trigger group!). Even w/only a crude sight-in I was popping bowling pins at 60yds easy. Great quality rifle! (My best friend sold his SAR-2 to buy a SEAK & I ordered a 2nd SEAK for my son [or maybe for me... Tomac |

At least you're optimistic! ![]() EDIT to add: My seak has functioned flawlessly. |
[suspicious wife]"What's in that closet you bastard?!?"[/suspicious wife] [husband who wears the pants]"Nothing, just get your bitch-ass back in the kitchen and make me some pie!!"[/husband who wears the pants] |
ha! actually, I always say 'thats an old one' got busted on an M1 garand last week though...still in some hot water over that one..can't hide it when she tripped over the box the fedex man left.

I sold off a bunch of optics and guns (I know, I know, never sell guns you already have) to fund my SEAK and some other purchases. I explained to my beautiful that that money was already tied up in my guns and could therefore be used as I saw fit. I told her that if I use new money I'll ask permission but if it's already in the wash it's mine. She pondered it and hasn't said anything about the ammo orders that I've been receiving so she must be on board. *OT* It's funny how the longer you stay married you and your spouse become "aligned", not just on money matters, but all topics of conversation. *OT* According to Fedex, my rifle is in St. Paul with expected delivery tomorrow. Ordered a case of Wolf from FAC in Fridley yesterday, so this weekend I'll get to see what all the fuss is about (can't wait either.) Thanks for the posts guys. |
you know if you live close enough you can just swing through there and pick it up yourself. i saved a ton of shipping cost doing that. so i'm not hijacking; i've shot my friends SEAK and it's a nice rifle! |
|
If I were swinging through the Cities I'd do that, but I'm an hour or better drive from there so with gas prices the way they are, I'll let UPS soak up the fuel costs. Besides, not knowing exactly where it is, I'd end up driving around in a daze anyway. *Bad attempt at being funny to follow* Being that it's suddenly mosquito |
Luckily, I have a very understanding wife. I've bought 7 rilfes so far, this year (not counting the 10 AR lowers I just ordered) and she hasn't said a word. Hell, she even went to Knob Creek with me. She is my first, last, and only, I'd never be able to replace her!! |

Inferno I've had friends head up on fishing trips already and they've reported that up nort' the mosquitoes aren't bad. Down south (Albert Lea area) come dusk, you don't want to be outdoors or they'll carry you off. Last week we had 5" of rain over the course of a day or two and the ground was already saturated so the fields all have standing water in the low areas so it may get a lot worse. SEAK is at the dealers now, I wish I didn't have to wait until Saturday to get my hands on it. Question, did only those SEAKs that had engraving have the special serial #s? I asked for no engraving but thought I'd still get like "XXX of 250" or whatever. Please enlighten me. Thanks |
No, if you asked for no engraving, we didn't put anything on the receiver. We let people request a certain # to match any other SE's they may have. Mike |

When I took mine out to the range, the trigger wasn't installed correctly. I would shoot one round, and the trigger would stick back in the firing position, unable to shoot again. It had cycled and fed fine, the trigger just needed some adjustment. A minute or two with an allen wrench, and I was back in business. Accuracy was fantastic at about 50m. I was popping clays with one shot about 8 or 9 in a row. The sights were perfect. I didn't attempt to check accuracy at 100m. My biggest problem came with sighting in the Kobra. I wasted dozens of rounds trying to site that thing in, got sick of it and stuck with the iron sights. |
I've never been married, but I'll bet that my guns are cheaper to keep than a wife would be. ![]() ETA - My SEAK kicks ass. In fact, I'm on my way out the door to ORF to buy another AK today! |

Picked mine up this weekend and got it out Sunday. It really does look sharp with the plum furniture, it's just enough contrast to set it off from the Blark. I'd requested black if it came in during the manufacturing but stated I'd take plum if it meant the rifle would ship sooner. I'm glad I was impatient. I wish the PG could have come plum. I also asked about the engraving which I thought wasn't on the rifle as I requested "no engraving". I notice I did get the engraving, however, and one really has to look for it to see it so I'm glad I happened to get it anyway. ORF. I seem to remember a picture you folks posted of some SEAKs at the range for test firing. The picture, iirc, showed the barrels, just forward of the front sight post, resting against the edge of a concrete shooting bench. I believe your Blark is tough but I've got some nice little scratches in that same location on my rifle that look like they were possibly caused by some contact with concrete. Maybe, maybe not, but they were there when I opened the case and I hate defects, however slight, on a new gun. I fired 100 rds of Wolf FMJs at a distance of about 75m with consistent 3-3.5" 5-shot groups (sandbagged) with open sights. I was impressed as many have stated Wolf to be about the least accurate of ammunition available. I need to find some Barnaul now! Very light recoil also. Plain fun to shoot. I did notice after firing approximately 60 rds. the trigger seemed to get a little sticky when I was easing it forward to reset after each shot. Can someone provide instructions for adjusting the Red Star Arms fcg? Well, I can say I'm glad I bought one of these and can't wait to get it out shooting again. Thank you ORF for a really nice looking and nice shooting rifle. Thank you also to Krinkfreak for keeping track of everything for us and answering our questions. |
