So, a vendor has some AMD parts kits for sale for pretty cheap... Was thinking of a couple of them to go with some of my B-West receivers that I've been sitting on. Anyone want to reccomend what parts for compliance, or should I just SBR register them and not have to worry about parts count? The idea of a barrel extension sounds kinda icky. |
I think you still have to have the 9 U.S. parts even if it is a SBR |
Nope. www-2.cs.cmu.edu/afs/cs/user/wbardwel/public/nfalist/atf_letter3.txt There's a link to an ATF letter that's incredibly clear on that issue. AWB still applies (until September, thank God), but not 922(r). I just don't know if it's worth SBR'ing these B-West receivers for what's supposed to be a quick-and-dirty beater rifle - anyone's opinions? |
| I personally dont think its worth building a SBR, all the hassle of getting the forms signed by your Police Dept and approved and paying the $200! tax and having your gun registered with the ATF, forgot to include you have to get approval before leaving your state with the weapon. Just seems like to big of a hassle just to have a short barrel. |
Guy at work is builing a couple. Tapco sells a barrel extension that once welded in place makes the barrel legal length. Somebody else (FAC) sells an extended muzzlebrake that does the same thing when pinned/welded in place. It looks just like the original AMD-65 muzzle brake but longer. Guy at work is doeng both versions, though he says the FAC extended brake is better looking. |
