This is a pretty redundant question. I'll be honest and say it, to me, they are all the best. They just don't jam. If you want a starter AK, and don't want to spend a ton, get a Romanian SAR-1. It will set you in the right direction.

I have no experience with VEPR's, but from what I understand they are very nice. You could always have Ohio Rapid Fire build you a fine AK!

if you are seeking quality, you would be well advised to look at the 'made in america' bulgarian kalashnikovs from arsenal incorporated... www.arsenalinc.com/index1.html

also, ohio rapidfire and inrange are represented here on thr board and they both do reasonably priced custom builds of various versions of the kalashnikov series of weapons.

Start with your shooting habits, groups or blasting, close or far, big or small bullets. Then we can clarify for you.

Otherwise there are a few weeks left on the SEAK project posted up in this forum. Bulgarian AK 74 build, my favorite gun out of 12 calibers on hand...

7.62 I think is what I want.  I don't care about being a tack driver, 100 yds max but I wan't something that I can hit the target with.  Is the 7.62  ammo alot cheeper than the 5.45 and is the 7.62 easier to find? Mags for the 7.62 easier than the 5.45 to find? Just alot of questions sorry.  Thanks for all the looks guy's.

Thanks Jeff
