I am interested in getting a high quality AK for about $600-$700. What are my options? Any rifles besides Arsenal, Inc. that I should consider? Thanks.

The Hungarian SA85M makes an excellent choice if ya can find one.

polish kit build from arsenal usa. just bought mine on sunday. ssr-85b. look for that one. avoid their ssr-56s unless you buy one directly from them. they fixed em I believe.

AK-USA has some very fine rifles, but I don't think any are within this price range.  I believe his standard rifle (AK-103) is over $800.00.  He's just finished and mailed a 104 for me.  It should be here within the next couple of days and it was WELL above that price.  Thank God for tax returns!!  he

Thanks all for your replies. What makes a  preban AK  such a good choice?

I second that. I just got my SSR-85B, and it's a beautiful gun. Nice finish, high quality parts, reasonably accurate. My backup would have been an SAM-7.

Or third choice would have been an 85M. I don't know very much about those, but they are highly praised, apparently.
