Whats the going price on these bad boys now? A local shop has a Sar-1 w/ the fixed sidefolder on it. Wants 579.00 for it with a 40rd and a 5rd. Front sight not canted at all, didnt check for trigger slap though. Is this too high?

Yes, that is too high.
The price has gone up with the sar-1, which the average price is around $350 - $425.
Check the auction sites and the for sale, equipment exchange forums and you should find one at a decent price.

Yes for that price you can get a SA-M7. I wouldnt pay more than $350ish for a sar-1.
