Ive had 2 different dealers tell me that since very few countries use 5.45 and that russia probably will opt for another caliber in thier new lines of rifles that the free flow of 5.45 is about to dry up.  Sounds like BS to me but I did hear about the drying up of the SAR's from these individuals before it was mainstream.

Well, who really uses 7.62x54R anymore?  Wolf still makes a whole bunch of that.

I think that as long as it's profitable, Wolf (and probably other manufacturers) will continue to sell it over here.

One thing that leads me to believe that is that Wolf makes a bunch of .223/5.56mm stuff, and that's not used in Russia in any kind of quantity, is it?

Since milspec 5.45 is steel core, and we have plenty of lead core sold here, I call BULLSHIT.

Sounds like a perfect excuse to start a major ammo purchase....can you say"whats your bulk price".It stinks that 5.45 only comes in civilian clothes but thats why they made 223-7.62-39 AK's then we get AP...API...APIT in 223 and AP...T...and Raufoss in 7.62.How about the raufoss,I'm very fond of that and am working on a small pile.Still can't figure out why they let us have that.I saw some 50cal. Raufoss 4sale.....$50 each. It's amazing that you can buy API 50 for less than 223.So what ban has to lift to get a variety in 5.45 ?

Their new military rifle (AN-94) that they are trying to re-equip with, is in 5.45

The caliber is not going anywhere unless demand drops - this isn't going to happen, or import it cut off my the Government.

Dealer BS.

Hey mag162,
I just ordered a SAR-2 & I can't find 5.45x39 at any stores locally (Memphis).  Do you mind telling me from whom you got that great deal on ammo?  My rifle will be here on Thursday & I'd like to have some ammo ordered ASAP
Thanks!

Dansammo.com and Outdoormarksman are my favorite places.

I've become a big fan of outdoormarksman lately, escpecially with there fast shipping and tracking info.

I haven't bought ammo locally since I found those two sites.

I have a 5 pack of the .50bmg raufoss.  I'm saving it for a special day.  Its finnish if I'm not mistaken.  I also have some rather nice APIT and some crappy APIT.

Glad to hear the BS consensus.  I dont like to cry wolf (ha) but I wanted to know if I should invest...

Neither one of the dealers sold ammo in bulk.

Screw it.  I better order a pallet... just to be sure.

I have 14,239 rounds put back, are you saying I have to call Eric at Ammoman.com and order more?

Yes the .50bmg Raufoss is good ammo. I jumped through the hoops in the '80s to get My Squadron a stock of it......as I understand, they dropped the ball and are back to 100% NSN stuff....oh, well.
