Got one today, the 4x from Centefire. I have some questions

1-mounting the scope-I see that there is a nut on the threaded bolt that the claw that clamps at the bottom of the scope mount, but I am having trouble getting it to mount properly, it seems to either not want to go on or can be pulled off by pulling to the rear.

2-reticule adjustment-the windage and elevation knobs have three screws in the top of them. There is one in the center and two towards the edges. The directions say to loosed all three to site it in. Is this correct? My IOR had an identical appearing set up and it's directions said to NOT loosen the center crew.

3-elevation and windage adjustment-is the knob that allows on the fly elevation adjustment calibrated to any particular distances or rounds and how much does the windage adjustment effect point of impact?

4- are the little hash marks to each side of the center triangle just sort of semi random markings?

I paid for this
www.centerfiresystems.com/miva/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=CSI&Product_Code=SCORIF29  But that is not what I got, the clamp is different, the part that swings for the clamping action is on top of the bar that attaches to the side of the receiver and it has a hook at the bottom that clamps upward and it adjustable by turning a spring loaded nut on a threaded bolt that extends downward from the clamp.

I'll post some pics later

Aimless, the nut on the bottom sets the tension.  Try loosening the nut on the bottom.

Mine would not go on correctly either.  I had to ake a file, and SLIGHTLY file off the little hump that guides it into place.  Adjusting the tension on the nut was also needed.

There should be a happy place where the lever allows it to just slide on when open, and clamp secure when closed. Sometimes the challenge is not in the adj screw, but burrs on the rail or bracket.
The darker top knob spins about for zeroing (several loose screws) and then the lighter drum has marks to track adj afterward.

Aimless,

Please post a picture as I am not familiar with the mount you are describing.

Yeah that's it I believe. I have pictures I took last week but then went out of town blah blah excuse excuse, I will post them tomorrow am

My g/f borrowed my digital camera to take some pics this weekend (sure we got her an expensive real camera AND an expensive digital camera yet she ends up bringing neither and using mine-yeesh) anyway I remember scrolling through the pics and finding the PSOP pics "What's THAT?"

Oh the scope also scratched up my receiver cover

Aimless, you got a POSP scope with an SVD clamp.  It will not mount correctly on an AK.  Even when you fit it on the AK side rail, no matter how hard you'll adjust the clamping effort, it will slide off the rail with recoil -- just a matter of time.  You needed a POSP scope with the correct AK mount (a.k.a. V-clamp)

btw, thanks for the support...

Aimless,

lemme dig back into the black hole of my brain....iirc Tantal has a "fix" for this. It is call the Afghanastan fix.. The name was devised from the Muji picking up the psop scopes and using them on their AKs. He had a rig to fix it, and then I modified a screw, ran it in the back of the mount, and made an additional stop. Let me look at mine tonight and see if that disturbs the cobwebs...in the mean time do some research on his site.

... or you can get a V-clamp:  www.freedomoptics.com/comersus/store/comersus_viewItem.asp?idProduct=149  and swap it for the svd clamp on your scope

and forgot to mention that even if you manage to fit an svd scope on an AK, the eyerelief would be incorrect (the scope would sit too far back)

Geez I was already buying ammo and magazines from 'em and I do have a weakness for those ladies with that sweet Kentucky accent

The lady at Centerfire said basically "What do we know, they told us they were interchangeable?" and gave me an RMA number to return it. I've always had good dealings with them, that's just the risk you run buying something like Russian optics from a company that is not overly familiar with that product, my own fault.

I'll talk to you after I get this scope returned to Centerfire.

What's that? Do I want one of these?

I have a used Kobra on the way and I only have an SAR 1 & 2 but I could get something for the other SAR, I don't know which one to put the Kobra on & the guy says it's a bit of a PIA to get sighted in.

the Kobra is not hard at all to zero once you realize how the system works.  the key is to loosen the locking nuts on the adjustment knobs with the supplied spanner, pop up the knobs enough so that they rotate freely, then rotate them to the maximum setting usually oposite of where you ended up during your adjustment.  retighten, make an adjustment and repeat until perfect.  then once you are zeroed, loosen the lock nuts again, set the knobs to 0 (zero) .  that way you have can quickly adjust either way should your POA change.  it's really harder to explain than do.

it's all here in detail

For a smallbore AK, YES!Reticle is graded for 5.45, eye relief needs to be next to the rubber cup, so nto 30 cal friendly, Leupold-clear glass, massive freaking 60ft field of view at 100yds, but it weighs the full2lbs like a trilux. Mine lives on my Bulgy 74.

Yeah,  you want one, Aimless.  But you need to get a SEAK to go along with it.
