I just swapped my troublesome SAR-1 for a WASR-10 and the butt stock is darker than the handguards.

How can I find a matching butt stock? I looked at K-Var's but cannot tell what I would need. I am thinking about doing this instead of going plastic. I sort of like the "blonde" wood on the handguards.

Thanks.

I belive ORF had Romy take off wood sets for about $25 a few weeks ago. Call and ask if they have a lighter set.
Ohterwise, the yellow/pale blonde Bulgy wood sets are very nice and about $60.
And I am guessing that particular piece of wood will not get much lighter if stripped..

What if I stripped all three pieces and refinished them with a stain or something that adds color? Would this make them all look the same?

I've had some luck lightening up darker wood using diluted bleach.

You have to be pretty slow and careful with it though.

That isn't an "arsenal", it's a good start.

It's more guns than I can use at one time.

Ask diane fineswine what that is... She will agree to it being an arsenal of deadly machine guns...

Key concern is how deep in the grain is the darker finish on the butt stock, or is it just natural wood variation. If they start close in color after stripping, a difference in the number of thin coats of stain can even them up. Not guaranteed, and not the light blonde you seemed to want.
