| I cannot get my SAR-1 buttstock off. This thing is put on so tight that the wood around the edges has actually "peeled" back some. I saw on the Romanian site where they said to pry it off with a screwdriver, but mine doesn't have the proper hole to lever through. I tried beating it off but that hasn't worked yet. Any ideas? |
| Yeah, a pillow or other soft area, slowly beat it top and bottom like swinging a hammer while holding the barrel, hard but not hard enough to hurt the wood. It will slowly rock its way loose enough to pull out. I dont like prying stuff, marks and dings are just a slip away. |

put on a pair of gloves...smack one side of the stock and then then the other with your gloved hand. alternate sides and as you make contact with the stock keep your hand moving the stock rearward. you are not trying to move the stock side to side so much as to bend/splay the receiver...just enough force to allow the side pressure to allow a little rearward motion on each slap of the wood. those gloves with the rubber dots on them work well for this job. the varnish is what is making the wood stick inside the steel. |
