| I just droped my SAR-2 off to get satin black moly resin,polish the bolt carier and a n.i.b o.d k-var stock installed for about $200-.Good deal i thought(this person is near me and does VERY nice work!)The finish is being baked on,just wondering how durable this finish is? |

imo, none of the bake-on finishes are 'bomb proof...but in reality...i know of no finish that is! all said, the spray/bake finishes offer attractive looks and good rust protection at the exspense of some durability. they are suscepible to gouges and scratches, but it takes some rough handling to 'do the number' on them. they offer 'good' resistance to chemical attacks...but, at the same time i wouldn't abuse that rating. applied over a good parkerizing job, i think it's one of 'the' superior methods of protecting a weapon from the elements. |
