Hello everyone, I'm new to the world of AK's but interested in the SEAK as my first venture. Could I get some advice as to the advantages and disadvantages of the SEAK vs. other AK's available, whether custom built or not.

thanks Dukie

Advantages:

It will be a great first AK type weapon for you.  Cheap mags to get, cheap ammo, little recoil. The SEAK will have a scope rail and will look great, function well and be accurate.
ORF does a great job on their builds and are great guys to deal with.

Diasadvantages:

In the gun?? NONE...

BUT... Every AK you purchase after the SEAK will have to be sent to ORF to make them look as good as the SEAK.

You will quickly learn that the AK is just not a gun, it is an addiction...:)

Thanks for the info. Ky! Want to make sure I'm getting the "most bang for the buck" with the SEAK.

i really suggest that you invest $5 in a telephone call to mike or todd at ohio rapid fire.

there is nothing that replaces getting information straight from the source.

imo, the value of the seak is good, but you must decide for yourself if the money spent is backed up by the work and workmanship provided. there is no better way to make that judgement call than to go to the source.

but remember...it's like kyarguy stated, once you start down the road of custom built rifles, it's difficult to live with some of the factory builds.

todd and mike won't bullshit you and you can judge the man, himself, by his own words and descriptions of their build process.

Dukie-  One thing I can say about the SEAK, at least when you get it, it WILL work!  I am modifying my own SAR 2, and it is a Pain In The Ass to get working!  Become an AR15.com Member and save some $ too!

Yup, Campy is correct.

I will be sending off my milled Bulgarian
Franken gun to ORF for a BLARK treatment very soon.  The Maddi will be quick to follow the same treatment.

...Like i said, it is an addiction!!

It is made from a Bulgy parts set that is easily some of the best quality AK stuff ever made. Quality US parts and work by a well-known good smith.

Good advice.

Ohio Rapid Fire (ORF) is staffed and owned by fine people.  I guess I've gought three guns from them in the last couple of years - the last being a custom built FAL.  Nothing but satisfaction here.

Yep, I agee with these guys as well. Call and talk to Todd or email him. You need to be comfortable in the transaction.

Just a word of advice after doing a ton of searchs and research -  If you chose to skip the seak and venture down another path ie. cheaper AK builder and the gun gets hacked you will then be paying another to fix it or trying to get that builder to redo it.  *and* you probably only saved $100 bucks or so by going with a cheaper builder.

Bottom line - If you don't go ORF - go with a proven winner then.

Good Luck.
