the commies were big believers in maintaining one's rifle. despite having invented one of the most reliable firearms the world has seen, the russians continued the military tradition (as followed by a great many of the world's militaries) of storing the cleaning kit in the buttstock, and more cleaning supplies in the magazine pouch.
they also retained the individual cleaning rod. |

The attached cleaning rod is a very good idea, IMO...If you get an ubsrtuction in the bbl. you have the means to clear it in the field...
