Today I went to the first gun show (here in Oklahoma City) that I've attended in a while.

Actually found four decent deals:

Colt preban AR - in 7.62X39 - $1200

Bushmaster preban carbine with adj. stock - $1150

Oly preban (with stop sign lower) AR with fluted barrel, flash suppressor, bipod, two mags and assault rifle bag - $850

SAR-2 with AK-74 brake, RSA trigger and scope  - $350

Must confess that I bought the Oly and the SAR-2 !!  (Now I've got to find furniture for the SAR-2 as that stock must have been made for 'pig-mes' !!)

Saw a good many SAR-1's from $300 to $420 with no one buying any, of course.

Edited to add scope to SAR-2 package.

Bob, even with my new SAR-2 I'm afraid Bulletfest is still a little out of my range !!  Sure wish I could go though.

Was a good size show.  Picked up 600 rds of wolf 7.62X39 on clips, 984 rounds of .223 (brass factory loads), box of S & B Tokarev ammo, 4 .50 Cal cans, 1 .30 cal can, and a tin of Albanian 7.62X54r for $155 bucks.  The ammo was on the flor kinda hidden by a table drape.  Also got a real nice full tiger stripped M48A for a FFL friend that is turning it into a sniper.

1179, you going by the shop?

rkw1969, I am in El Reno too.  Email me and we need to meet up!

Good deal on the Sar 2--would have been mine if I saw it!

Subguy:

Don't count out the wood on the SAR2.  Under that goo lies truly fantastic wood.  A little stripper, a little minwax and you will have a work of art.

Bob:

You missed a decent show at P'ville.

Plateshooter has good results with the all Homer Formby route on his SAR wood. The Tapco pad has been great on my plate blaster for the last few years.

Sumo, you AK guys have been training me for over a month now and I had specifically decided that an SAR-2 would be my first AK-type purchase (for my personal use).

Anyway, I dutifully worked the entire show saving the dealer I use for transfers and gunsmithing for last.  I went over to do a little BS'ing with him and there sat the SAR-2 !!  I had been in his store only Thursday but the SAR-2 had been brought in and consigned on Friday !!  Interestingly the guy consigning the SAR-2 is a local competition shooter and my dealer is going to arrange a call with the previous owner as to how the SAR-2 performed.  Buying local does have 'some' advantages.

Guess things worked out alright as I did find the preban AR and at a good price.
