Hungarian SA-85M...... Very good ones, fit/finish/accurate for an AK-47.

Best built AK on the market: Bulgarian SA-M7s.

Best Value and Closest to Mil-Spec (visually): SAR-2 or SAR-1 if you prefer.
Oddest and most accurate: Vepr II
Most stylish: AK-103

Editors Gold Leaf Award: The Bulgarian SA-M7 cause it uses a mil-spec milled receiver which is made in Las Vegas Nevada (which is cool in itself).  So it gets points for that (points for being milled and points for the whole Las Vegas gig).

Editers Silver Leaf Award: SAR-1 or SAR-2.  How can you not have at least one SAR?

I've owned 'em all and that's my opinion.

Some righteous reccomendations there.  I have but one AK, a nice litter SAR-2, I replaced the stocks with synthetic K-VAR (Las Vegas!) parts and it is a nice light, low recoiling, reliable, AND inexpensive rifle.  I'm sure those other rifles are good stuff too!  I want a Vepr next, or a Bulgarian kit build-up, or....
