Guys this is what always happens to us law abidding people. The vote is coming up and things look better than any of us would have ever thought it would. But this is whats going to happen, we will have a few school shootings and bank robberys and the media will over blast it  and will force it down mamas and grannys throat and that will be anough to do it.I guess Im just venting from just signing on and the first thing that pops up is Headlines that reads " More banks being robbed " and shows a guy with a ski mask carrying an AK with a side folder folded holding up a bank. Its our doom. Why must these A$$holes always  do this $hit when we need things to settle down.Wouldn't it be nice if a AR15.net memeber was riding by when they ran out of the bank guns a blazeing and pulls out his SAR 2 and pops the Ahole in the head and gets good news coverage for his action.I know in dreamland. Ive been holding my breath and tring not to get hopes about the Vote. But like I already said always the F_ck ups that labels the whole group of 2nd amendments rights guys and gals.WarDawg

I certainly see your point and have thought of the same scenerio (sp) too.  I just hope it doesn't happen.  As ya'll can probably tell, the media is already hiping it up and it is still over a year away.  Who knows though, we all may get lucky.  WarDawg, I sure hope I'm able to log on Sep. 14th, 2004 and say you were wrong.

There is only one bit of decent news I can think of should the AWB 'NOT' sunset.  The Dimocrats couldn't make things worse for another 10 years - not much good but something.

These incidents don't have any shock and awe anymore since 3,000 people were ground to dust on 9/11.  The media also no longer enjoys the monopoly they had the last time.

WE must face the fact that we're a minority that doesn't get preferential treatment.

WE are gun nuts.

WE scare the little children.

WE terrorize our neighbors when we put our gun cases in our trunks.

WE scare the defenseless elderly.

WE are what all good television viewers fear. The liberal media makes sure of that. (I've often wondered exactly what foriegn interest is dumping the bucks into our "free press" to constantly portray firearms as evil...)

If a gay person or ethnic minority wants their 15 minutes of fame, the media will beat a path to their door so they can whine about the injustices they experience. A gun owner tries the same thing and the media calls the local militia....

Personally, I think that even if someone could do a good t.v. piece showing how stupid the "cosmetic features bans" have been, the SHEEPLE would not be impressed. In fact, I believe it would lead them to the same conclusion that they've already had burned into their brains...("Guns are bad, guns are dangerous, doesn't that gun look scary?, imagine how many children will die simply because that gun exists" AND SO ON...)

Regardless of the President's position, it all boils down to Congress on this one. Wanna talk about a bunch of swollen ego hypocrites? If allowing the ban to sunset would or could make them look stupid (which it would), they'll have no part of it!

All I'm hoping for is a window of opportunity...a folder here, a flash hider there...

I have a bad feeling that next time around, the wording of the legislation will go thru so many lawyers that loopholes will be non-existent. That will screw US.

WE have to pay to play. And what that boils down to is spending a few more dollars to support those who support US. It also means WE should all take the time to write a few well worded letters to our elected officials regardless of the possibility they'll never even handle the letter prior to sending out the obligitory "thank you" form letter.

All WE have is US.

WE can't count on THEM.

Some things to remember:
Has the CURRENT president said he would sign on for continuing the ban?
Yes.

Will the Democraps ever be in the White House again?
Yes.

Will the Demomarxists ever control the Congress again?
Yes.

When will these last two things happen?
Within an election or two. Certainly no more than 3.

Will there be any more school shootings?
Almost certainly.

So what do I predict?

The ban will sunset WITHOUT a new one being passed. After that about half the states will soon pass their own version of a ban but theirs will be permanant. Think of the blue/red Bush/Gore election map to get an idea where the gun grabbers will get their victories. When the Democraps get back into power will they try to pass a national ban?
Well, yes. No question. And don't tell me it cost them the congress and they would never make the same miskake again. If they did not get their damn rocks off making the same mistakes over and over again the halfwits would have abandoned marxist socialism LONG ago.

The good news is that millions of mags and hundreds of thousands of firearms that are now post ban will be "pre ban" modifieable forever even after they pass a new ban (4-6 years after the present one expires in my estimation).

But look for many of the states after 2004 to forbid sales, hi-cap mags, transfers in state, bringing into state, introduce registration, and eventually outright ban possesion, of certain "military types of firearms".

Belloc is right on the money. It will never get better, it's just a question of how long we can hold off it's getting worse.

I have also thought the same thing. The only difference is, if a new ban comes around they will try to make it like the Cali ban. Then all these rifles might be the last ones.

I am going to hope that the SCOTUS finally gets off their ass and gives a decision one way or the other on this stuff.

The only problem with this is that the "sunset" provision is the first thing they took out of the new bill. if it passes we are stuck with it for good as in forever.
