WE must face the fact that we're a minority that doesn't get preferential treatment.
WE are gun nuts.
WE scare the little children.
WE terrorize our neighbors when we put our gun cases in our trunks.
WE scare the defenseless elderly.
WE are what all good television viewers fear. The liberal media makes sure of that. (I've often wondered exactly what foriegn interest is dumping the bucks into our "free press" to constantly portray firearms as evil...)
If a gay person or ethnic minority wants their 15 minutes of fame, the media will beat a path to their door so they can whine about the injustices they experience. A gun owner tries the same thing and the media calls the local militia....
Personally, I think that even if someone could do a good t.v. piece showing how stupid the "cosmetic features bans" have been, the SHEEPLE would not be impressed. In fact, I believe it would lead them to the same conclusion that they've already had burned into their brains...("Guns are bad, guns are dangerous, doesn't that gun look scary?, imagine how many children will die simply because that gun exists" AND SO ON...)
Regardless of the President's position, it all boils down to Congress on this one. Wanna talk about a bunch of swollen ego hypocrites? If allowing the ban to sunset would or could make them look stupid (which it would), they'll have no part of it!
All I'm hoping for is a window of opportunity...a folder here, a flash hider there...
I have a bad feeling that next time around, the wording of the legislation will go thru so many lawyers that loopholes will be non-existent. That will screw US.
WE have to pay to play. And what that boils down to is spending a few more dollars to support those who support US. It also means WE should all take the time to write a few well worded letters to our elected officials regardless of the possibility they'll never even handle the letter prior to sending out the obligitory "thank you" form letter.
All WE have is US.
WE can't count on THEM.
