What is done to convert it to accept high cap? Also what is the difference between them and SAR-1s?

Widen the mag well to accept the wider hicap mags, and hopefully do a nice job of also building up the feedramp to accept the now wider feed angle. The latter part is not always done, and neither part is always done right. For the minimal price difference, get a SAR1 which is virtually identical in every other way.

the wasr lacks the correct feed ramp (in some cases), and these are added to the wasr hi-cap version, the wasr is missing the magazine well guide dimples (there are spot welded in guides, in their place and the magazine well opening is, of course, opened up to accept the high-capacity double-column magazines.

WASRs are a hack job at best, many with bare metal where the mag well was opened up. SARs are hack free!

Unless you consider the techs at CAI hacks for how they put the shepherd's hook in.
