I just bought a Poly Tech Thats marked 386 CS 82xx.     Then below that it has a stamped oval that has been dremilled out and MAK 90 etched over what ever was in that oval.
Then stamped 7.62X39mm  SEMI-AUTO under that, the far right of the reciever has POLY  technologies stamped in fancy letters.

The threaded barrel has been ground down(good job except you can see the heat marks where the grinder got a little close to the front site)

And the bayolug has been ground off(noticably),and the cleaning rod hole has been tig welded shut!    A thumb-hole stock has been added as it doesn't quite match the lighter front wood!

My quess is it was a pre-band castorated to be brought in after the ban.   All ser# match right down to the bolt.  Its ass new,or maybe even new in apearence!

What would be your guess at its value?  Of course without seeing its great fit and trigger feel just a ball park figure.   Anyone   you wont hurt my feelings!    Thanks    Bob

my polytech mak90 was exactly the same way...with "mak90" scribed in the oval...after much checking I found that it orginally said "ak47"...but alas the ban and they could no longer be brought in ..so they {poly-tech is just one of a long list of importers} removed all the evils and the evil ak47 name and now it can be imported....hope this helps....

Thanks Jackpot for your quick reply,I had a MAK-90 (norinco)and sold it because didn't like the looks!    Then I bought a SAR 1 ,boy did I miss that MAKs trigger and long stock!

So when I saw this POLY just grabbed it up quick!

 Thanks again       Bob

Bobbyjack,
Those go for about $350 in my neck of the woods, but don't let the low price fool 'ya. With the addition of the proper number of US parts, you will have one sweet rifle!

Is it a milled, or stamped receiver?

Also more info on it can be found here:

bob, this was one of the genuine ak-47's (pre-ban) that was either in transit or on the docks when the '89 import ban went into effect.

in order to get it thru customs inspection, it was nuetered into a post-ban configuration.

as rotdorn said, what you currently have is worth about $350 or so.

with the addition of 5 usa made parts, your mak can legally be restored to a pistol grip configuration.

Stamped,I like the feel of the long thumbhole stock, and I have more control over the rifle one handed with it!   Oh its one of those KBI imports(at least he scratched that crap above my trigger group and not all over the rifle)

What five parts would you change out?  Would upper and lower front handgaurds, stock, pistol grip, and new bolt carrier count as five?
