I recently bought a MAK 90 thumbhole for $300 with a tactical nylon carrying case and 3 30 round mags. The seller needed Christmas money. The rifle is in excellent condition. I don't know much about the MAK 90. Can anyone out there advise me if I got a good deal???

Yes, that is a good deal, not quite a steal but a very good deal. The rifle is worth about 325~350 with mags and the case is an extra $25. So you saved between 25&50 bucks. Now, with the proper US made parts you can convert that thing into a legal pistol grip AK and lose the bunghole stock.

it's hard to find a mak in my area for under $350.

you did well. these are sturdy rifles and rarely are any problems reported by users.

Thanks for the info. Where do I find the US parts? Is this something I can do or will I need a gunsmith? Thanks again.

You can get the US parts at a couple different places.
www.k-varcorp.com will have US made stock sets.
www.redstararms.com will have fully adjustable Fire Control Groups. Tapco has non adjustable American made groups. The RSA has very good instructions in it, the average person should be able to change these out and adjust the trigger to perfection. The stock set swap out is a piece of cake...anybody can do that!

The MAK-90 I saw at the show last weekend was priced at $500.  I thought that was a bit high, I think you got a decent deal.

If it was a stamped Mak 90 I would say you got a very good deal. If it was milled, it was a steal. Hell, I'm in Texas, why can't I find deals like this?
