| I have owned several preban ak's, and well for whatever reason got rid of them. I really can not justify buying a preban so tell me which post ban should I get? I have been given some VERY SERIOUS thought to the VEPR K in 7.62x39. Any thoughts or even a better idea? |
| The VEPRs are very nice, the SAM7 is probably best of breek right now, but on that milled receiver is awful heavy. I personally have an SAR-1 probably the best $$$ value and see no reason to change. The thing to remember about AKs is that looks are not an indicator of performance or durability. They all seem to work pretty well. Some are just finished better than others. |

Either the VEPR or SAM7 need nothing to be fine AKs. The mass of the milled rec, or RPK rec in the case of the VEPR, smoothes out the shots also so it is not all bad in the 762 caliber. But if you just want an AK that works well, hand pick a SAR1, expect most to have funky triggers, but still be done under $400. But I LIKE the fit and spacious front handguard on the vepr... |
