Which model? Then we can help more. The more common SAR models are about $290 wholesale.

SOG sells AK's modified to accept high-capacity mags. My local dealer hadn't ever dealt with AK's until I told him he ought to check out the SAR-series rifles. The next time I was in his shop he told me that he ordered a SAR-1 from SOG, but that the receiver said WASR-10 when it arrived. He said that the mag fit sloppily and that a Romanian drum that he also picked up wouldn't even lock up. He sent it back and ordered one from AIM Surplus instead. It was a true SAR-1.

aim has sar's for 3 bones. before ordering from anyone, make sure the sar-1 is not really a wasr.

Just to clarify M4's post for the newbie. The WASR starts life as a single stack receiver, that only takes mags up to 10 rnds. The Dremel Dude then enlarges the mag well and modifies the feed lips to accept proper hi-cap double stack mags. Imperfection is the norm.

Thanks for the heads up.
Money is tight right now, you guys probably just saved me some headaches and pocket book problems.
