are the ak scope mounts with 1" rings that replace the original receiver covers any good?

No, they are horrible. Get one of the siderail mounts if you can.

Even if the screws at the rear keep it stable, zero is gone when you take the lid off to clean it. And yes, I've tried, with my LAST POS Leapers scope too.

stay away from from the action cover mounts. i can't stress enough how big of a waste of time and money they are.
for the ak, it's either the commie left side optic rail mount or a dedicated receiver mount (such as b-square's).
