I don't know where or how he is getting the but JoeKen firearms is gettin the Bulg ((10)) parts kits in for $169! Either furniture set! much better prices if you buy more! If you ever think might want to build a truely awesome 74 from a NEW parts kit you better get this deal covered like a fat lady on a toilet! www.joeken.com/index.htm |

Thanks Barry, btw the mags arrived, thanks! Who would you recommend to assemble this kit onto the new receiver? What do you think of the receivers they are selling for $40? I'm guessing Hesse. Have you spoken to them, are they new kits? How much could one expect to pay to have it built up with the new receiver and US parts? |
no prob glad you could use them

Barry, are you going with the wood or USA black polymer furniture? Do you know which polymer furniture they are using, KVAR? I don't want to order it and find out its that MSG crap! Is Troy the same Troy from the board that is a Mod? If not, do you have contact info? Email addy? |
|
As far as furniture goes, I am redecorating the keeping room right now... oh you mean the rifle. I got the black kit in,(KVAR kits are real Bulg, not USA) but I am looking at a few options on the different ones I own. It seems a man in a Big Brown Truck also dropped off a plum colored stock hmmmm... beige, maybe I will paint the walls beige... Yes Troy is our Troy from good ol' Kodak Tennessee! |
|
Font, Good point! We are speaking about: Troy Sellars 1048 Eagle View Drive Kodak, TN 37764 Phone/Fax: (865) 932-6509 E-mail: [email protected] NOT the Troy of AR mag fame! |
|
Damn it I just can't afford this right now... sunofabitch! I'll have to come up with the coin for the parts and receiver and maybe buy the American parts later... OR pull the KVAR off of my campy clone and put the refinished wood back on and sell that here or at the local shop... Who has the best prices on Ohio ordinance receivers? |
| I ordered my blond '74 kit. I spoke to the Joe part of JoeKen for a while. Nice guy. He was not aware of this board until I told him of this thread. They have some beautiful forged receiver kits inbound. Next week you will be able to order direct through the site vs calling in the order. The AK 74 kits are expected to clear Customs this week. They are also planning to stock FAL and CETME kits and FAL receivers. I don't remember the exact price of the CETME kits, but I think he said $89-99 range. |

He did mention he was approached about being a sponsor. I didn't realize he meant for this board. I thought he said AR-15.net or org or something. -Hbarski, I've been around, I'm in a "FAL phase" right now. The FAL and the 5.45 makes a nice range combo and generates a lot of questions from other shooters. I need to get a CZ40 or Browning HP in .40 to complete the triad. I do plan on unloading two of my Romy 74s and building up two of these Bulgy kits on OOW receivers. |

Are these the kits that can be made with the bentmetal type receivers? I want to make my own receivers... Would these include the "trunion" that was mentioned needed for these type builds??? The 47 kits on that page say the "rear portion missing"? What about those? Are the "rear posrtions" ecessay when building your own receiver? I'm not big into AKs, but will need one sooner or later...just because I can! |
|
Bign, The kits have a torched/cut in half receiver attached to the trunnion and barrel. That means you would need to remove it and either rivet in the new receiver (apparently difficult) or use button screws (easier) in place of rivets. Since the trunnion is attached, I don't have to headspace the rifle since it's already pressed on to the barrel. Not sure what you mean about bent metal. Those AK flats/unbent receivers apparently aren't a viable option for garage type gunsmiths. Hess and Ohio Ordnance make the 74 receiver for something around $60. I plan on using button screws as discussed somewhere previously on this board. Hope that helps. |
