[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Bolt carrier question

If I picked up a Romanian bolt carrier with a curved handle, would it drop in to my SAR-2 without modification? Is the piston that comes on the K-var bolt carriers a US part or original Romanian?

When it comes to the bolt carrier- GOOD question. I have been wondering this same thing myself.

My Romak 2 came with the same type of bolt carrier, so I'd assume it should fit the SAR 2 as is. Since my rifle also came with a thumbhole stock, I'm also going to assume that the gas piston is Romanian. Hope this helps.

if it were a romanian ak-74 carrier...yes.

Thanks, guys! Why did they go to the curved handle? Does it offer an advantage over the straight?

the romy military ak's use the right side folding wire stock. the upswept handle offers more clearance with the stock folded, affording easier charging.
