| How do you remove the upper handguard from the gas tube? I want to put wood on my siaga AK. It appears that the plastic handguard is installed then the metal is spotwelded in place. I know on the sks there is a pin to remove and the handguard can be removed. Thanks for any help. |

Can be tough to get off. Wrap a rag around the front end of the gas tube. Get a good grip on that and on the upper handguard with the other hand. Apply pressure to the bottom of both sides of the handguard forcing them in a little and twist. It won't likely come off very easy. You might have to tap one side of the handguard with a brass or nylon hammer to get it started a little. Once you get it going it should move for you. Worst case: If you don't plan on saving handguard(I would) put it in a vice and use a dremel to cut through the handguard in the middle. Take care not to cut into the gastube. Hope this helps and that it comes off easily. |
