There are two links in the build ur self section I added today. One goes to pics of tools a guy is offering on the other board which includes go-nogo gauges and a pressing plate. The other one shows pics of a homemade jig just for pressing ak barrels. Could you make a sticky and have these pictures added to our build section? There's a pretty good thread going over there (ak47) about rivets. I plan on gaining some knowledge, doing some cut and paste, and bring the info over here when I have the time. I really do want to build my own and with K-Vars 5.45 kit at $249 it's time for me to purchase the kit and learn about how to build it. Thanks, TXMAN |

i can't take the pics without the consent of the site owner...something about as likely to happen as finding an ice machine in hell! lol! but, that's what happens when you deal with dumbthorn. i'll tack the links up. i agree, nobeard's tools will help those that can't make their own. even seeing the pic's will help some folks make their own. i am concerned with the use of cases as go and no-go gages, though. this really scares me. not having tried them, i can't say it will not work...or is inherantly dangerous. still, for the $44/ each real manson gages cost, i recommend getting the real mccoys. edited to correct the price. |
