A few days ago Wolf Performance Ammunition announced they are introducing the
9x39mm Wolf cartridge to the US commercial market. Originally developed for Russian
special operations use in suppressed weapons, the 9x39mm is finally coming to the US
market.

They will be offering both ARs and AKs chambered in it and a number of companies,
including LaRue Tactical have expressed interest in chambering it.

Here is a write up on it and a short video I did about the new 9x39mm Wolf cartridge.
The video and write up should answer any questions you might have, so watch it!

Pics of production 9x39mm Wolf ammunition and proper box marked Subsonic were posted by Todd Jaderborg tonight
while we were having dinner. I received the first shipment of production ammo....now just waiting on a rifle to shoot it out of!

 All of them .......   ?
.
 9 x 39
This could be the  greatest  intermediate  carbine cartridge... 158 grain JHP at around 2100 fps ?

@gunwritr

That was quite good and very informative I must say. Simple and to the point comparisons of what 9x39 does vs 7.62x39 subsonic and 300BO

Good work Dave

Has it been confirmed that this will use the typical .135" recess Grendel bolt?  I might be getting in a hurry..

Hell, I might actually buy another AR just for this caliber

As far as AKs chambered in that caliber go. Who would make those?

This would be cool, if it stayed true from the start. Seems like some of these new guns start out looking like one thing and finally 4 years later we get something different. (Dt, gsg) :/

Very cool, I would love to have a VSS clone.

Really wish that they would make some cheap .300BLK though...

You know what i really want, the Wolf t-91 upper being imported in this cartridge. Then i will be able to get two things in one gun that i never thought i would be able to get!

I saw reference to US built VSS rifles, but can't find anything. Anyone know for sure?

Love to see ballistic gel tests of these when they get out just to see a visual representation of the cartridge.  I think that an ak with a wolverine pbs1 can would be pretty rad combloc style combo even if it isn't really authentic  Too bad I can't have suppressors in ILL.  Edit: would a .30 cal can work with this?  Just barely maybe?

That's pretty big news. Though I think the biggest hurdle with this project, assuming the ammo will flow in pretty regularly, would be mag availability.

It might be possible to use the Wolverine PBS-1.

The baffles get larger toward the end cap, so as long as it can come out of the rifle muzzle and not hit the first baffles it could work. I don't think I've ever seen what the first baffle diameter is but it can't be that tight otherwise they would still risk baffle strikes for 7.62 rifles with non concentric threads

YES!   Dreams do come true.
