I have a WASR10 that I want to put a Primary Arms red dot onto.  Been looking at different side rails and am looking for one that does not sit high above the dust cover.  Any suggestions from current owners

Or for something a little different, you could try the Ultimak Railed gas tube. I have been using one for several years now on a Mak 90. Have close to 4000 rounds through the set up and it works great. jmtcw.

Yeah, this.  I like the way it looks, and it is close to the top cover.  I am thinking of getting this:

You can get it in individual parts (not a one-SKU package like Atlantic) from AIM Surplus for about the same price with free shipping.  The RS AK301 (front-biased mount) is out of stock at Primary Arms, or you could get it all there too.

RS regulate or K-Var SM-13, I own both and like both.

You can not go wrong with the RS Regulate mount. It's well worth the money.

Whats your thoughts between the RS and the Midwest Ind railed scope mount?

Get the RS, you can usually find them on the EE and the files marketplace for $110-$130. well worth it.
ETA: I'm not sure if you're going to use the micro or the 30mm Primary Arms RD, but here's mine with an Aimpoint comp m2 and an RS gen1 mount. nice and low.

Was looking to go with the advanced PA micro red dot for my AK.  See nothing but good reviews.  Your sight looks nice and low...looks good.  Which RS mount do you have?

I like my Midwest Industries 30mm mount. Using it with an Aimpoint CompM2. Sits nice and low, cowitnesses with stock irons. Holds zero when removed. Vastly superior to the Russian mount I got with the PK23 scope I used to have on it.
