Called century today before buying the one at  LGS I asked about soft hammers etc, They assured me they wont say its a wearable part and if there is any problem they will fix it providing I haven't altered rifle n any way, They said a lot of guys are altering their rifles then when something goes wrong they want it fixed. It can not be altered in ANY way. Also for those interested the 2016 model has been changed it will come with side rail for scope mounting.  So I called LGS and told them I will wait for the 2016 model to arrive.  Thanks to all who were of help and those who just wanted to give me their opinion of why theirs is better and the one I was looking at was junk. I was really interested in listening to the ones who actually own a C39V2 and was not interested in the opinion of those who have really never owned one or shot one but full of hear say knowledge and felt compelled to share. Happy shooting no matter what you use to sling lead down range. Thank You

I'm essentially the only one that replied to your thread with an answer, so I'm assuming this is directed at me (maybe I'm wrong). I have handled quite a few C39's (both V1 and V2) and I've shot two V2's. Granted I don't own one, because they're not my style and Century has long ago left a bad taste in my mouth. At no point did I say it was junk or that one was better than the other. Of course Century is going to tell you that it's everyone else's fault and not theirs. Not sure how you can alter a rifle to the point that it changes the heat treatment of a part without applying significant heat to it. So what are you talking about?

Did you happen to find out that the side rail on the new V2 is a proprietary rail and only a Century Optic mount will fit it. So if you wanna use that RS system you sold a kidney to buy - TOUGH!

Man they probably lost a future customer in me with that decision...

Oh, as far as owners, yeah I've owned 4 and they are great rifles in my opinion. I think the weak link if there is one is in fact soft carriers and bolts. I just eliminated that possibility by voiding my warranty and installing a milled Bulgarian carrier and bolt and it made the rifle more accurate and smoother. I recommend them highly. I've never personally had a defective carrier or bolt.

Thanks.  I tried to google it but couldn't come up with anything.

They seem to have a good thing going with the C39, seems insane to suddenly bring proprietary stuff into the mix.

My thinking exactly. They listen to critics on one hand, but get blinded by $$$

You'll hear that a lot. If you decide to buy a C39V2, I hope you're a little thick skinned. The C39V2 is a fine rifle. A small number have issues. Century claims they have less than 3% return for repairs. This is really an excellent statistic - if true.

I have began to like to tinker. At one time it was told that the C39V2 had a proprietary bolt and carrier. I and several others have proven this to be untrue. I currently have a milled Bulgarian bolt and carrier installed and have concluded that it is indeed of a higher quality. So, I'm leaving that combo in place...

I love mine and have had no issues.  The proprietary rail ting is ridiculous.
