| So I was super excited to pick up my new DDI Zhukov Stamped AK-47! Had to drive over 3 hours in Holiday traffic to my favorite Gun Store. Picked it up and raced out of there w/o even examining the rifle (My fault, never again!!!!). So I get home and realize that no AK-47 magazine will fit!!! Tried (4) different steel surplus mags, (1) Bulgarian Circle 10, and I could barely get the Magpul mag in w/o using a rubber mallet. I contacted the Gun Shop and they are willing to bend over backwards to make me happy and told me to bring it back along with all my magazines to find one that will work to swap out which was cool of them. I am really starting to wonder if I even want an AK from DDI! I would like to know what mag they used for QC testing before this thing got boxed up and shipped out. I was on the fence about the Century C39 V2 and chose the DDI but now I am thinking I made a bad decision. I thought I read amazing reviews of these rifles, that's just my luck though with everything in life, if theres a Lemon in the bunch I will certainly find it. Sorry for the rant guys, just very upset right now as I have a $900 paperweight. |

You said the magpul fits but with substantial effort. That tells me that it is close. You could take a file to it and make it happen.
Although, you'd ruin that pretty finish. I'm personally unhappy with DDI because they won't let me take a tour of their operation

Tried (4) different steel surplus mags, (1) Bulgarian Circle 10, and I could barely get the Magpul mag in w/o using a rubber mallet. I find this really interesting as I have the reverse on my rifle. Surplus mags slip right in nice and easy (they have a tiny bit of wobble), while the polymer mags I have a very tight fit and need force to get them in and out. As for the rifle, don't panic. You've already contacted the gun shop and it seems like they are willing to take care of you. I'd contact DDI as well and let them know of the problem and see what they want to do. I don't know how the FOID waiting period and transfer stuff will come into play for a direct replacement, so I would go with whichever route is easier for you. Three hours is a pain (is it normally that long of a drive?) but it might be worth the peace of mind of testing mags rather than sending a rifle back and getting a new one. Nice to see some other Illinois guys! |

Sorry for the rant guys, just very upset right now as I have a $900 paperweight. I own a C39V2 so be warned that I've been watching this DDI movement through tainted lenses. Having said that, every magazine has fit as though it were tailor made for my rifle. That includes cheapo Tapco, Pmag, and all metal mags. I'm not married to the Century rifle and if DDI was proven to be superior to me, I'd be doing some swapping. I've seen they have a really earnest desire to please their customers, however I've seen that more than I've seen the reviews that say "hey got my DDI and its perfect", I realize you hear much more about problem guns than those without problems, but with the C39V2, you just don't see that many with any type of issues and when you do, their service is also getting much better. Get you money back and come to the dark side with $200 in your pocket...lol |
| Well for starters, I plan taking up the gun store offer hopefully later this week. There is no reason why I would have to use a metal file to get my $900 rifle to allow magazines. I can totally see a weapon experiencing some kind of problem during hard use which the manufacturer wouldn't have been able to predict, but for something as simple as just inserting a magazine into the weapon before it gets boxed as part of basic QC is just silly! I'm sure my local fun store will do everything in their power to make me happy because they are stand up guys but I just feel my confidence in this particular company has been shaken considering this is my first product from them. If they offered to exchange the weapon, I may try to exchange for the C39V2 if possible. These DDI rifles do have an amazing finish on them though and straight sights. |

I have a C39v2 also, and I have found it to be a damn fine rifle. I have not seen an AK with better workmanship. The trigger is smooth, the rifle is accurate, and the walnut stock reminds me of the stocks that used to come on Marlin rifles in the 1960s. I have never seen a DDI in the flesh, but I do want a milled one. I am a freak for milled AKs. DDI has top notch customer service. You will be alright. |

File the mags untill they fit. Shouldn't take much. No...You fit the rifle to take the mags as it should, not the other way around. Having a rifle that picky about mags is not good since you wind up having mags that will only work in that rifle and may cause malfunctions in another that accepts non-modded. All AK mags should fit all AK's in the caliber they were designed for...some may be a bit tighter, others a bit more loose but they should all fit and function without filing on them. Only exception to this is IF you find a mag that won't fit in multiple AK's, then it's probably the mag that's the problem. |

I would have been more impressed if it had left the factory defect free. Quoted:

Yes I am very impressed so far, just shipped the rifle back to DDI via prepaid label, hopefully get it back soon and report back. I would have been more impressed if it had left the factory defect free. Being a new company, there are very few out. It just seems to me that there have been a whole lot of "They'll fix it.." Perhaps before trying to cover every niche of the market, UF, milled, stamped, etc. They should have put one out there and perfected it. I wonder what their current "return % " is? |
| The only real issue I have seen is with the magazine fitment and only on a few rifles. I think I have seen about 6 threads about this, which is certainly a issue but you have to think about how many guns are going out. On the plus side they seem to be very very quick at resolving the issue. I know that if you have an arsenal with a problem you better say a prayer in order to help move things along. That is not to say they don't make a great gun but customer service seems to be lacking on their end. I am hoping that one of the questions that gets asked in the upcoming military arms channel video is "what is being done to fix these issues and make sure they don't continue." I think for the money they look like great rifles. |

I think for the money they look like great rifles. I seen 2-3 with really objectionable accuracy issues. To the point that the DDI guy was offering to send some Wolf HP ammo for the folks to test out. Another one I believe was sent back to find out why they couldn't hit the side of a barn from the inside. I am exaggerating but this rifle had serious accuracy issues. It had a best 3 shot group of 5 inches at 50 yrd and 11" at 100 yrds with Tula, Wolf, Red Army ammo... |

Was the issue resolved? As I said, the customer service is awesome. Actually was their idea to mention returning that one to see what the issue was. I can't find any followup on that particular rifle. I'll do a search in a bit and see. It's pn the AKFiles website. |

I found one other post by that same guy, and he sort of implies that it turned out to be his marksmanship...lol If so, All Hail DDI!!! lol |
