| More specifically, what is the difference between the GP 1975 and the RAS47? Other than the mag catch, safety, and scope mount, I see tomato tomahto. Is really any better than the other? |
| The GP used a NDS receiver, military Romy parts, [except for the US parts] whereas the RAS is all American. The bolt carrier is hollowed out, the mag release is funky, & who knows who makes the receiver? Too many unproven variables with the RAS. Maybe after a few years, & thousands of rounds, the RAS will prove itself. GARY |

Quoted: Thanks for the info. What is NDS? ETA: any accuracy difference between the chrome-lined and unlined barrels? Unlined barrels are usually more accurate. But it's really up to the shooter. I'd buy a GP1975 before a RAS47. I'd buy a WASR before ANYTHING else... including an Arsenal. |
| I have the RAS47 , along with 3 Arsenals and a couple if home builds. Had I taken the RAS out of a Arsenal box I would not have been surprised. Fit and finish is excellent. The finish on the metal is deep and uniform only time and use will tell me how well it stands up. While I have not run anything except cheap ammos it is at least as accurate as any other AK I own. (There a few reviews that with good ammo these Nitrated Barrels shoot sub MOA) I have owned other Century products and I will tell I was shocked when I unboxed this thing. |
