What is the current best bet for a factory semi auto AKM type rifle?
All I see are U.S. clones. |

New production WASR10 (2013+) from Century Arms are very well built and they're still only ~$500.
Yeah, I know- WASR10s haven't had the best reputation in the past but these new WASRs are impressive in their quality. No more mag wobble, cants, irregular riveting, mixed matched parts #, etc... If you want to go 100% import, you're going to have find a pre ban like the rifles mentioned above which is going to cost you some more coin for obvious reasons. Unless you're collecting or searching for a specific receiver type, I'd say the new production WASR10 is your best bet for the money; You get clean machining, sleek blonde furniture, threaded barrel, bayo lug, and matching numbers. (I believe there are a few WASR variants with different features) Oh- I also know that I.O. Inc. imports a "Polish" AKM sporter that's made by Pioneer Arms in Radom, Poland. These are also really nice AKMs that are in the same price range and are built much better than I.O. Inc's US built AKs. STAY AWAY FROM IO's US BUILT AK's- they're NOT worth their cheap price tag. Just my .02. Hope it helped! |

I wouldn't buy one for half the price. OP, for a new production AKM, the WASR is your best (and only) bet. The NPAPs are nice but they're obviously not correct AKMs. |
