| Hi there, I ji order my 1st AK. I got a zastava npap with a 10 round magazines. I will like to open up the magwell to use the 30 round magazines. Please help. What do I need to do and how hard is this modification? Should I take it to a gun smith. I know I should have gotten the 30 rounder in the 1st place but I got a hell of a deal on the rifle. Thanks for the help. |

You'll have to open up the magwell, get a proper bolt, and relieve the front trunnion. It's A LOT of material that needs to be removed using a dremel. Also, headspace could be an issue with the new bolt.
Only take it to a gunsmith that knows how to do the mod. If you're going to go that route, it might be worth it to have him remove the front trunnion to do a cleaner job. Honestly, I think you should sell it or write it off and get one that takes regular magazines. |

AFAIK all imports in recent years have double-stack bolts and proper trunnions. If his rifle was imported in the last couple of years, all he needs to do is open up the magwell. |
