New to AK'S. I have a Pioneer Arms side folder on its way. Can the wire side folder stock be changed to a different stock? If so what's recommended?

yes, and I recommend your personal preference!

see how the side folder works for you, luckily that side folder allows the rear tang to be kept in place so you can swap it out with any different length of buttstock for a stamped AK receiver, if you don't like it there's solid synthetic stocks offered by K-var.com that range from "warsaw" length stocks to "NATO" length stocks, and also 4 different colors (olive drab, plum, desert sand, black), if you want to keep a folding stock but not remove the tang check out ACE industries, and bonesteel arms

google all that shit and you're set for life

Thanks for info. My preference is that I want to add a magpul Moe stock to the rifle that I can side fold. The rifle is a side folder already.

Just need to see now which manufacturer to go with and what exactly I need to make it happen.

the thing about that side folder is that it's designed to be interchangeable with stamped receivers using a rear tang which looks like this:

keeping the tang IMHO the best option out there for being able to add more parts since you could throw anything from AKM, to AK-74, to third party parts on there

So for a folder with a AR tube here are some options (not all, others can chime in)
A) Get a Bonesteel model that is just a "drop in" for the rifle, I have 2 of these, it gives you the option of later switching back to a solid stock since you don't have to remove the tang, plus you can buy a right side folder or left side folder based on your preference (I prefer the right side folder so I can use optic rails, if you don't have optic rails, then I'd go left)
B) Get an ACE stamped block adapter and then the folding stock, allows you to save the tang
C) Dremel the tang off the rifle and go with an ACE block an side folder

I would avoid ACE like the plague.  I ordered a FSM-PB, which I cut my tang off for.  ACE redesigned it because it was "faulty" and wanted me to pay $20 in shipping charges to return the old one and get a replacement.  They wanted me to pay for shipping both ways, so they could give me another piece of garbage.  The person who answered my emails "Tiffany," took a week to resolve it via email, and got snippy in the email.   Here was here "snippy" response:

I have talked with the owner of the company he said that our warranty policy like the majority of other U.S. manufactures requires you the customer to ship the item back to us.
We will replace the item and pay the shipping back to you. Please let us know how you would like to proceed.

I work in the customer service industry for a mail order company.  This email incensed me to say the least.
