I have a new NPAP have only put about 500 rounds through it and have noticed the bolt carrier tail has been peening. From searching online some people have had issues with the bolt carrier hitting the rear of the receiver but I do not believe this to be the case as the displaced metal matches perfectly with the hammer. The gun has run flawlessly but if I need to do something preemptively I would like to know... On a side note are the brown specks around the bolt carrier tail rust? Its always been there since I got the gun. I've rubbed cotton swabs soaked in clp over it but its solid and nothing rubs off. Thanks.
Edit: I've tried numerous times to link to the pictures with no luck so here are the urls: https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/511x383q90/843/b3vnt.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/511x383q90/844/yrrz.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/511x383q90/843/gu5jc.jpg I think I got it to work - dalesimpson |

It's normal. It's just the parts wearing in from the contact the carrier tail makes with the hammer when the rifle is fired. Eventually it'll stop getting "worse."
Anyone who thinks it is the carrier tail hitting the rear trunion needs to take a closer look at their rifle.. as that isn't even possible. |
