I am really looking forward to adding a VEPR and an SKS to my collection, but the general consensus I see around here and on calguns is that if I am patient I can save some money on each of them as the prices right now are inflated like crazy due to 'possible restrictions' on imports from that part of the world.  However, I've already heard from several sources that the 'crisis' is bogus being perpetuated by importers and dealers to increase demand, and that there is not much real threat of imports drying up (for the foreseeable future anyway).

My question is, how long do you guys think it will be until prices stabilize?  I know a VEPR Pioneer in 7.62x39 would have been $750 a few months ago but now are going for over 1k.  I hear Russian SKSs in good condition were going for under $450 a few months ago but are now averaging well above $650 on gunbroker.

I understand not every gun meets the reserve on gunbroker, but the fact that everybody is still in that ballpark means they are still finding suckers...

The pices will stabilize when buyers stop buying.  As long as suckers pay the increasing prices, those prices will keep increasing.
