hello everybody, I had a question about an AK flat that I have. I have already bent it , but I have not put on the rails yet. I do not have aparts kit, so I was trying to attach rails and heat treat etc.. and save it for a later time when I could get my hands on a parts kit.DO I need the front trunnion to attach the rails properly, or is there a standard set up I can use (similar to the Nodak Spud receivers)? Any help would be appreciated
P.S. I am in San Diego if anyone nearby could help.

I would think if you folow a spec schemtaic you should be able to prebend and spot weld your rails into your reciver. I think this would be better served with the kit you want to biuld but to each their own . I am in to learn more.

I thought everyone used a quarter inch drill bit as a guide.

You should ask your question there, or I can move your thread there if you wish. Let me know.

I install rails according to where they will line up with my trunnion. My answer would be to wait.  I know that some trunnions require the rails to be a bit lower to line up properly.
