| Hey everyone, I am in the market for a AK but have no idea what to look for as far as quality, make, etc. I know I don't want a foldable stock and want to go with the wood finish. If anyone could help me out as far as what to look for I would appreciate it. |

Right now you will pay too much and pickings are slim, but hopefully you already know that.
I am partial to VEPRs and they are still pretty easy to find. IMO the thicker receiver and slightly heavier barrel is worth it. The wood thumbhole stocks are quite nice, and you can put normal ak furnature on them with a little work to deal with the slant cut receiver. Chrome lined barrel is a plus. Mine in 54r had ejection issues until broken in. Most accurate AK I have owned. Yugo M92s are also decent and fairly easy to find. No chrome barrels though. Canted sights is something to watch for on these, I hear more stories about bad sights on hear than most others. Trigger on mine was very stiff out of the box. Saigas are good quality but not that plentiful right now. Prices are up on those you might find and given the work and parts to convert it, might want to keep cost in mind. Chrome barrel is a plus. Will need a bullet guide for normal ak mags but this is a simple DIY upgrade. Only giving feedback on what I have owned, there are a lot of options out there and quality varies a good bit even between AKs made right next to each other. |

with the price on inflations and demand going on right now. What was the average price an AK before the crisis we are dealing with now? Depends on what it was. I bought my VEPR in 54r last spring for $700 from Centerfire systems. They have the same rifle with the same barrel length for sale now for $1200. (Keep in mind that there always has been a price premium for. 308 and 54r, 7.62x39 and 5.45 guns will be a bit less) I bought my M92 pistol in early dec right before prices went crazy for $500. They now go for $800 to $900. |

| Wait until Arsenals come back and drop back down under a grand like they did last time or keep watching the EE for a used one. Then buy some wood and switch furniture. Both the SGL and SLR rifles are phenomenal. I bought my SLR-106FR on the EE last year almost brand new with 2 mags, sling, cleaning kit and drop case for under $850 shipped. |

This is what I plan to do. |
