| Has anyone used one of the ar mag adapters on a arsenal 106 series 5.56 if so how do u like it and what kind works well |
|
Mac From the Military Arms Channel has done a vid on the Definitive Arms device for 5.56 caliber AK's . Search Poster name "Mac" for the vid here in AK discussions .
I am in line waiting to have my Arsenal SLR CR 106-62 converted with their magazine feed ramp device. |
|
We are accepting 106 series rifles for conversion.
Most .223/5.56 AK variants are accepted for conversion. There is currently a 106CR being worked in our shop. I will try to post pictures when it is finished. MAC's video is well done and informative if you have not seen our conversions. If you have any questions feel free to PM. Thank you. |

Have you done any work with Yugo M85 krink pistols yet? |

I bought some to try out, converted a 5.45AK. Its a little buggy still and I'm done tinkering with it. If I had a 5.56 AK still I'd be a lot more interested in persuing it.
The ones I have dont require much in the way of a modification since the mag adapter is outside the receiver otehr then front tab that goes inbetween the receiver and the trunion. Just a little grinding on the trunion to allow an AR mag to reach the feedramp. |
| I think the sheet metal design is RenegadeBuck. I have two of the adapters from Magnolia State Armory (now texas ak). They both suck. Neither allow drop free mags besides you have to mill too much material from the trunion (in my opinion). Texas AK now has the B.A.S.T.A.R.D. out. It is similar to the Definitive Arms but I think Definitive Arms has a better product. I am on waiting list for D.A. because the product seems superior and I have lost faith in Texas AK. |

Love the Definitive Arms conversion demonstrated. $350 or so to convert for the AR magwell though... Ouch!! We CNC several parts from solid 4140 (not cheap to produce/machine) That cost covers the following: All machined parts (including or enhanced feed ramp which is machined from solid 4142) -Magazinewell, Magazine catch assembly, the bolt hold open, the release lever, pins and the 2 springs- All of the machining on your receiver and trunnion (done one at a time, very carefully on a small CNC machine). Us fitting the parts to your rifle (no two have ever been exactly the same, we follow a very strict formula when machining for the magazine well since AKs vary greatly in tolerance). Then installing via riveting and Tig welding (gauged and placed in an exact location based on the formula your rifle was cut to). Factor in time for processing (girl in the office still has to log it in and out of our books and do invoicing paperwork) Then at the end of the day, I still have to run a business, pay all kinds of taxes and bills, pay my employees etc. Oh and my family likes to eat dinner in the evenings. Anyone with knowledge of what goes into this (or many gun smithing practices) will tell you that is priced very fair. Furthermore I can tell you that many of those who have chosen alternative products have sent us their rifles to be reworked. Sadly, we often times have to turn them down since too much of their trunnion has been dremeled away when they were installing them (which also poses safety concerns). This is an option for those who want it done right, at the factory, by the people who designed it. It will feed reliably. Your bolt will lock open on the last shot fired. Your magazines will drop free. It works with many (if not all) AR mags and drums. The controls are located very ergonomically. And the system is very robust and simple (Tim points this out in his video). For complete rifles and complete conversions, I personally (the owner) QC and test fire every rifle made. They almost always come out perfect, the few that were not satisfactory were torn apart, rebuilt, refinished and retested. We do not hack them together. There is a difference between a TruGlo and an Aimpoint and it goes beyond price. I hope you take these things into consideration while considering the cost of our services. I also appreciate the compliments and support received from everyone including yourself. P.S. Thank you for reading this massive block 'o' text

No insult was in any way meant and no thought that your price is "too high" for all that is done, just that I'm supporting three daughters in college, Taxes are due, insurance payments are due along with everything else at the end of the month / quarter and of course funds are short.
If I had a stack on bills laying about, I'd be on this pronto! I have a "semi converted" Saiga. Has the stock and Pistol grip modifications, but I haven't put in any bullet guide (running SGM 30 mags with their own built in bullet guide in the magazines). So, just to clarify, since the insides of the receiver & trunion are "stock saiga" then I shouldn't have any issues with a conversion? (of course you can't say 100% yes until you see it - but just on general terms?) Also curious about estimated turn around time? |

If the trunnion and receiver are untouched then the conversion can be done.
Generally speaking, no feed ramp is a plus. Salvaging a trunnion with a threaded hole in it can be troublesome, since we use a proprietary feed ramp and rivet it in place. Turn around time once we receive a rifle is usually within 2 weeks, but we ask that you allow 3-6 for completion in case we have issues at our shop. However there is a waiting list right now for work on customers rifles. You can be added to the waiting list. There is no obligation and no money down. More or less it gets you a place in line. You won't send us your rifle until we are ready to work on it. I didn't take your post as an insult. I just wanted to make a statement about the pricing. Thank you for your interest in our product. |
