I've got an post ban SAR-1 with no threads on the barrel. What would be the best way of threading it? Gunsmith?

+1

I actually just threaded my SAR-1 about 2 weeks.  It was simple.  I don't have a gun vice, or even someone to help.  It took about 5 minutes tops.

The biggest problem is starting straight. If it is crooked it will dig in on one side and be shallow on the other. Any suggestions as to how he can do that?

Make sure you've got enough meat on the barrel to thread.  I've got a late 2003 SAR-1 that apparently had threads but were turned off before Century cut it loose.  Not enough left for even 1/2x28.

And you're a fool not to use one.
