Hello everyone,

Short term lurker, first time poster here. Will try not to waste anyone's time.. so I'll get to the point.

A recent death of a long time family friend led me to acquire a '94 Norinco MAK-90 Sporter, with the thumb-hole stock and the angled stamped receiver. Along with a couple mags and 2k+ in Russian ammo in the white boxes.

I have a few questions, and am somewhat a noob so bare with me please.

I cannot stand the stock, and from what I understand my only real options are Ironwood Designs or Brownells FiberForce Stock. I would love to go with the IWD stock if I can put a black, textured/smooth finish on it, rubber perhaps? What would you suggest for my preferences?

Also I wish to replace the furniture with something like Damage Industries Modular Assembly. Will this fit my style of AK?

Does anyone have experience replacing the dust cover with the TWS Dog Leg rail gen2 with the MAK-90 Sporter? How was the fit?

Thanks in advance for your time, and look forward to joining the community.

Here are a couple pics of my new rifle.

I am not an expert on MAK90's but i believe if you take that stock off and the receiver is a straight cut receiver, it can accept standard AKM buttstocks. If its a slant cut you are most likely stuck with IWD if you want a standard stock look to it.

If the receiver is slant cut then I think IWD is about your only option. I would recommend Rhino liner, or something similar, if you absolutely feel you must have it black.  Either way, it will wear off here and there over time and will ultimately look like crap.

My recommendation is to EMBRACE the Wood!

First pull the buttstock and determine if your receiver is slant cut or straight.

If it is straight, you can pretty much put any stock you want on it.  Some may require a little trimming to fit due to the Chinese receiver is thicker, but no big deal at any rate.

+1.  Get Bed liner spray at Walmart.

you can always stain the IWD set black.

won't be tacticool black, but would be unique and cool at the same time.

I like this idea, think I might go this route. Thanks.

mk90 are some of the top ak. you may still change the stock and go with ATI folding or maybe bit more exp once.

Please don't put anything from ATI on that AK
