New to the AK world, bought a CAI PAP M70,

I have seen a majority of folks that switch out their pistol grip from polymer to wood, but mainly from the finger grooves to a grip that is flush without grooves, is this personal preference or is there something I'm not getting or an advantage between wood/plastic?

If I were to switch out the grip to a "grooveless" grip.....

Can anyone tell me if I have a "stamped" or "milled" receiver? from what I know its the 1.6mm, and has rivets.

Thanks!

Stamped receiver. Grooves are a preference thing only. Depends on what is comfortable for you. Oh, and welcome aboard!

Your PAP will take standard AK grips, but you may or may not have to trim the grip a little to clear the rivets on the grip nut.  Standard stuff that Yugo owners have been doing all along.

I almost always dislike the feel of finger grooves, whether it be on rifles or pistols.  Some people love them though, so it's just personal preference I guess.

Thanks guys, my family in P.R.C. will be happy to see an AK in my hands finally

Silly question,

is it possible to convert/frankenstein an AR-15 Magpul MOE K grip to the AK stamped receiver somehow?

There are adapters to do this.  People have also done it by modding the AR type grip.
