I could use a hand confirming my thoughts from this great board. If you could confirm this i'de appreciate it...
So if I was in the market for a milled mak 90 and wanted to convert it with ironwood furniture etc. and be legal with all other required parts and all that, and I may or "may not" have the money for it I should: first maybe focus on purchasing 30 round magazines and the furniture first right? the furniture because its possible that it may in the near future possibly be banned from sell (pistol grip).?? Would I be correct? I would purchase those first because It would be more affordable for now, and those were the only things I can see being at risk of ban that I can think of... I think. I'm thinking (and could be wrong) that the mak 90s arent going anywhere although the prices may be .......terrible. Does all this sound right or am I in left field. I cant believe a guy like me hesitated this long w/ the administration we have... good news is ar15 ammo and mags IS NOT a problem in this household. thanks a million. sorry if this is a dumb question, I've spent two days looking things over including the possiblities of what could be coming.

1) You need to buy the rifle and magazines at the same time. That is what I would do in your shoes. A rifle without, say, 10 AK mags, is pointless. If money is really tight, then buy 10 mags as you could always resell them later if you end up not getting the rifle. 2) I would be shocked if you couldn't get the Ironwood furniture down the road. Even imagining the most restrictive ban, it would be ridiculous to ban U.S.-made furniture. 3) If you replaced the furniture, you would only need a FCG as the additional parts. They are inexpensive enough and I would buy it now along with the rifle and magazine. |
| Wooden furniture will never be banned. I'd concentrate on the gun & mags. I'd buy the US buttstock, & pistol grip. A US Tapco mag will have 3 US parts, so the mag & 2 wooden parts is what you need for 922. The Chinese trigger parts are the best around, so you don't want to replace them with US parts. The rest of the mags can be whatever you want, as you only need 1 US mag for 922. Remember, a milled MAK that has a US buttstock, & pistol grip, & no mag inserted is compliant as it has no more than 10 foreign parts. So have 1, or 2 Tapco US mags for range use, & keep the others for SHTF situations. I myself have 2 milled MAK's, & this is what I do. Milled Mak's are great guns, as they basically are post ban Polytech Legends. GARY |
