I purchased an AK47 that comes with a slidefire stock. It's due any day at my LGS for me to pickup. I just watched some youtube videos and realized that the slidefire is made for right handed users unless you specify left handed.
It will be a pain in the nuts to send this stock back and get the left handed version. Anybody have one of these and know if I can just use a dremmel and cut out the little section so my left finger can pull the trigger? My brother is right handed and he wants to use my slidefire AK as well so it would be better for us if it was ambidextrous. For reference, look at the picture I have below so you can see the area I would like to notch out so I can shoot left handed. http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/images/411549394.jpg |
| I think your best bet will be to just call SFS and see if they will sell you just the left hand version stock without the adapter and hardware after explaining your situation. That will save you a few bucks, then you can quickly swap them back and forth to suit whoever is using it at the time. Otherwise, just sell the one that comes with it, and order a new left hand version for yourself, because as said it won't function correctly without the finger rest. |

This might come off as dumb, but maybe call me paranoid.
I know the Slide Fire comes with the ATF letter, and is widely approved and so on. But I would not modify it at all. Just for my own peace of mind. Not to mention if you do, what kind of affects could it do. See if the LGS would "buy" the right hand version from you. They might be interested in selling one of their rifles with it, make some profit on one of their gun's. And then order a left one from Slide Fire directly. |
