It seems that everyone is out of AKs.  I'm sure the election had a lot to do with this, but how can there be a shortage of on of the most mass produced rifles?  On that note, I'm sure costs will go up, but who is producing a decent rifle these days?  The last thing I want to get is a quickly built gun rushed to fill demand.  I've been looking at some of the Arsenals, Century's, IO Inc and Yugo styles and doing a lot of reading here.  Thanks.

It is not a shortage of guns, it is simply a shortage of what dealers and suppliers had in stock. Give it a week or two and everything will be back to normal. Remeber what happened last time HE was elected? SGA already has ammo back in stock

There isn't a shortage of AKs, but there is a shortage of AKs at last years's prices.

Riflegear has Saigas, K-var has Arsenals, Center fire has VEPRs, J&G has Yugo PAPs and 99+ AMD-65s, among other things.

$299 Saigas and $369 WASRs are long gone.

AK shortages are because the rifles and parts are imported in waves.  When things dry up, it's a matter of waiting for the next wave to get imported.  It's not like AR's where domestic builders are just constantly cranking them out and shipping them off to buyers.

Arsenals are considered top of the line for a mass produced AK.  Centurys are the lower end.  But any properly built AK will work just fine, the more expensive guns just get you better fit and finish.  So if you want to spend the money on a pretty AK, go for an Arsenal.  If you just want one that works.. a WASR will very likely serve you well.

I went to the Tanner Gun show in Loveland Co this weekend, and there were hardly any AK's. Plenty of AR's though. I think there is a lotof panic buying going on at the moment. Let's hope things will settle down, and prices go back to somewhat normal soon.

Most AK's are of quality manufacture. It really depends how picky you are. Romanian Wasr's are factory made and still the cheapest (I think). AMD-65's are a great variant, but prices have gone up. Be leery of Century builds (not imports) and anything associated with Lancaster. You really can't go wrong whether it be a Wasr or an Arsenal or whatever?

Arsenal rifles always go up. You can thank K-Var for that.

They are basically the same company. Even at the Shot Show they share the same booth.  GARY
